DEFINITION and EXAMPLE of Bases(Roots) and Affixies


1. Bases and Roots are the main components of words in Linguistics, the word root is the core of the word
ex:

like
art
bio

ped

trans

2. Affixes is an additional element placed at the beginning or end of a root, stem, or word, or in the body of a word, to modify its meaning.

ex:
prefix
suffix/postfix
suffixoid/semisufix
infix
circumfix
interfix
duplifix
transfix
simulfix
suprafix
disfix
